Spring 2006, PHY582 Optics Rotation

Spring Semester 2006, Stony Brook Physics and Astronomy Department

Faculty responsible for the course: Dominik Schneble Lab S116, Office A106 Ph: 2-8043, office hours: by appointment.

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with Optics at Stony Brook . The students spend half of a semester working with one of the active groups in the physics and astronomy department that are involved with optics. They should plan to be at the laboratory at least four hours a week. At the end of each rotation they make a public presentation (ten minutes maximum) and prepare a web page with their results. This semester there may be possible projects with:

Organizational meeting, Wednesday, January  25, 2006 5pm in S141. Please send Dominik Schneble an e-mail by Friday, January  22, 2006 with the information on the first optics rotation.

        Schedule for this semester:
January 30 - March 13:   first rotation period
March 15:                          presentations, submit web page
March 20 - May 1:            second rotation period
May 3:                                presentations, submit web page

If you have a physical, psychiatric/emotional, medical or learning disability that may impact on your ability to carry out assigned course work, I would urge that you contact the staff in the Disabled Student Services office (DSS), Room 123 ECC Educational Communication Center, 632-6748/TDD. DSS will review your concerns and determine, with you, what accommodations are necessary and appropriate. All information a documentation of disability is confidential.
